Douglas Herman

General Counsel / Director of Litigation

One Mission Drives Us All

With nearly 20 years of litigation experience -- many spent working on behalf of insurance companies -- Doug understands how the insurance companies and their attorneys analyze and value cases. Therefore, he is uniquely qualified to fight for our Firm's clients, against the insurance companies, whether through settlement negotiations, mediation, or at trial, if necessary.

Doug has been litigating cases for nearly twenty years. Over that time, he has handled matters for individuals, corporate clients, and insurance companies, in a variety of state and federal courts, as well as arbitration and mediation settings.

Doug has litigated many types of cases involving large monetary disputes and complex legal issues. Therefore, he brings a wealth of valuable experience and expertise to the Firm’s clients in his role as General Counsel and Director of Litigation.

Of particular benefit to our Firm’s clients is Doug’s insight into, and understanding of, how insurance companies view and value cases, and how their lawyers approach litigation. Doug’s many years of litigation experience also allow him to effectively allocate resources and staff to our clients’ cases ensuring their efficient and orderly progress once they have been placed into the litigation process.

Doug has been recognized on multiple occasions by his peers for inclusion in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Lawyers publication. He also has been named a Rising Star and a Super Lawyer by Georgia’s Super Lawyers publication, as well as being recognized as a top lawyer in Georgia’s Legal Trend Magazine. Doug also has achieved a 5.0 AV Rating (the highest) from Matrindale Hubbell.

Doug has authored numerous legal articles for publication, and he has provided presentations to individuals, businesses, insurance companies, and to other lawyers covering a variety of topics related to his areas of practice.

When Doug is not working for the Firm’s clients, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, exercising, reading and listening to music.
